WhyNot?
WhyNot is for young people, by young people – it’s a platform to support and learn from each other without judgement and stereotypes and amplify our voices. We have opinions just like everyone else, and we deserve to be heard.
Research says only 20% of young Australians aged 18 to 24 years feel able to speak up within their community about important issues. We say this isn’t good enough!
This online platform was created to allow all young people an opportunity to have their voices heard by publishing their opinions, questions, ideas and stories. We want to stimulate debate and prompt conversations about the issues that matter to you without censorship or agenda as an authentic representation of the voices of young people.
- Let’s ask questions – WhyNot?
- Let’s speak up – WhyNot?
- Let’s make change – WhyNot?
It is important to remember the WhyNot Editorial Committee is committed to amplifying the voices of all young people and to encourage conversation about issues that affect our contributors. As such, the opinions, views, ideas and stories shared using this platform are those of the individual contributor and do not necessarily represent the WhyNot Editorial Committee or the Y in Australia. If you ever feel like you disagree with- or would like to further the conversation about- any particular contribution, the WhyNot Platform wants to hear from you! (Please note: all responses are considered in consultation with the National Safeguarding Unit prior to publishing to ensure that all parties are adequately supported during the publishing process.)
WhyNot is supported by the Y's across Australia.
